JOSH EDER, S.G. LONG, ELECTED PRESIDENT OF THE MISSOULA DOWNTOWN ASSOCIATION BOARD

KIA LISZAK & SCOTT WHITTENBURG JOIN MDA BOARD

Josh Eder, financial planner for S.G. Long and long-time supporter of Downtown Missoula, was elected President of the Missoula Downtown Association (MDA) Board of Directors for 2022. He replaces Ashley Larkin, commercial loan officer for First Montana Bank. Eder has served on the MDA Board since 2018 and has served on the Missoula Downtown Foundation Board since 2014. Eder grew up in Missoula, earning a BA in Business Finance from the University of Montana (2005). He has been with S.G. Long since 2006.

“I have a strong connection to and passion for Missoula,” said Eder. “I grew up here, went to college here, I have a great career here at S.G. Long, and now I am raising my family right here in this special place we all love. It is a privilege to serve as President of the MDA Board, and I am so grateful for my peers, who are some of the best and brightest entrepreneurs and public servants in Montana.

“Downtown Missoula has changed for the better over the last 20 years, thanks to the MDA and its leadership,” Eder said. “We are fortunate to have great partners, supporters, community engagement and vision for the heart of our community, and we are excited to welcome Kia and Scott to the MDA Board.”

In addition to electing new officers, the MDA Board ratified Kia Liszak from the ZACC and Scott Whitteburg from the University of Montana to serve on the MDA Board.

Liszak has been the Executive Director of the Zootown Arts Community Center (ZACC) for ten years. She spearheaded and led the visionary process and multimillion-dollar campaign efforts to bring the ZACC downtown and triple its size and ability to build community through accessible arts experiences for all. She was the 2019 Dan Cederberg Downtowner of the Year and has served on the Downtown Master Plan Implementation Team. She is extremely passionate about empowering people of all ages through the arts and creative community building.

Whittenburg has served as the Vice President for Research and Creative Scholarship at the University of Montana since 2013, where he leads the university’s efforts in research, creative activities and economic development. He is also the President of MonTEC, the business incubator located adjacent to Missoula College. He came to Missoula from the University of New Orleans and holds a B.A. in Chemistry from Oregon State and a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Utah.

The Missoula Downtown Association (MDA) was created in 1975 and is dedicated to promoting, supporting and enhancing the vitality of Downtown Missoula for the betterment of our community. The MDA is one of the three organizations under the umbrella of the Downtown Missoula Partnership. The other two are the Missoula Downtown Foundation and the Downtown Business Improvement District.
