Beartracks Underbridge Playspace

In collaboration with Missoula Parks & Recreation, the Missoula Downtown Foundation (MDF) has been working to transform a dark and dreary parking lot adjacent to Caras Park into a vibrant and engaging playspace for all ages.

Recent Updates

On March 14th, the Underbridge Playspace saw a new addition: stylized dumpsters. These eye-catching receptacles bring even more vibrancy to the space, thanks to the incredible artwork of Ann Karp at Sideways Gaze. With bold designs and dynamic colors, the dumpsters are now more than just functional—they’re a creative extension of the area. Learn more here.

Phase One

The Foundation completed phase one in 2023, which included painting two bays, funding and installing colorful picnic tables, a basketball hoop, three concrete ping pong tables, and two sets of concrete cornhole boards.

Dick Anderson Construction (DAC) has been an incredibly generous partner in helping the MDF get the equipment installed, and local artist Ann Karp of Sideways Gaze Art & Sign has created bright, and beautiful artwork for the playground!

Phase Two

The second phase consisted of finishing painting the asphalt bays, painting the pillars, and introducing lively lighting features.

Phase Three

The third phase will include enhanced lighting in addition to climbing and skating features. See the original plan below and support our efforts to develop this space.
