To our loyal River City Roots Festival fans – we know you’ve been anxiously awaiting an announcement regarding the direction the 15th Annual Roots Fest was going to take. While we know this is not an entirely unexpected announcement, we are saddened to say we have officially cancelled the 2020 River City Roots Festival. The challenges around the current pandemic were too great and our community’s health and safety are our highest priorities.
However, not all is lost! We are making lemonade out of lemons and are pleased to announce ‘Support Our Roots’ Week – a week-long campaign that highlights all of the ways individuals and families can support their community, local businesses, and organizations. From a virtual race to a virtual sidewalk sale, a River clean-up to Unseen Missoula music tours, and a Community Art Project in Caras Park to listening to Roots/Americana music, there are many ways to support the ‘roots’ of our community.
We encourage all of our Roots Fest fans to shift the dollars and energy they would have spent at Roots Fest and disperse them into Downtown Missoula. While we know everyone was eager to go out dancing in the streets, this moment in time requires us to pause and think about our roots from a different perspective.

Many THANKS to all of you for your energy and passion around Roots Fest. Continue to stay safe, kind, generous, patient, understanding, and spread love wherever you go!
