What Are Past to Plate Tours?
Past to Plate Tours is a program that provides guests with an exclusive walking tour through Downtown Missoula, followed by a one-of-a-kind fine dining experience at a Downtown Missoula restaurant.
The tour is led by a professional Unseen Missoula tour guide, and guests are accompanied by a Missoula Downtown Foundation staff member and two board members. These small group gatherings create the perfect setting for meaningful conversation, shared stories, and connection over a shared love of Downtown Missoula.
Guests will also learn about the Missoula Downtown Foundation’s latest projects and initiatives. Towards the end of the event, there will be an opportunity to make a meaningful donation that will directly support the enhancement of Downtown through the vibrancy of arts and culture, livability, economy, and safety.
Registration Details
All guests must register in advance for Past to Plate Tours. Both the tour and meal are included in the experience. When registering, guests will select their preferred meal type. The Missoula Downtown Foundation will coordinate all meal arrangements for confirmed attendees. Guests will receive full event details, including the tour’s starting location, in advance of their selected date.

Past to Plate Tour Structure
Past to Plate experiences have two portions. Guests will first participate in a guided walking tour showcasing the “unseen” history of Downtown Missoula. They will then enjoy a fine dining experience featuring an exclusive menu at one of Missoula’s top restaurants.
Tour & Explore
Your evening begins with a private guided walking tour through a fascinating pocket of Downtown Missoula, uncovering the stories and spaces not typically seen by the public. Each tour lasts about 60 minutes and is designed to end within a short walking distance of that evening’s featured restaurant.
Dine & Discuss
Immediately following the tour, guests will enjoy a specially curated dinner, prepared just for this occasion by our participating restaurant partners. Each restaurant will craft a unique menu for the evening, with all guests enjoying the same entrée, typically a red meat or chicken dish, with a vegetarian option available upon request.
Your Evening Hosts
On these Past to Plate tours, you will be accompanied by a Missoula Downtown Foundation staff member and two board members, as well as a professional tour guide. A local Downtown Missoula restaurant will be your host for the second portion of the event.

1889
A traditional steakhouse offering classic cuisine with subtle modern touches. Our menu includes a variety of prime-grade steaks, fresh seafood, and unique entrees featuring local ingredients.
Stables
The Stables is Missoula’s newest wine bar and restaurant. The Stables offers over 100 wine options, a full bar, craft beer, and classically inspired cuisine from our executive chef, Jarrod Somaoang, and chef de cuisine, Michael Kelly.
