City of Missoula Development Services
Developmental services guides the city’s growth by working with the development community to create high quality development and redevelopment. All of the city’s development services — planning, zoning, permitting, building, engineering and transportation– are under one roof.
City of Missoula Redevelopment Agency (MRA)
MRA partners with public and private entities to improve economic vitality, create jobs and encourage investment in the Urban Development Districts. It invests in public improvements such as parks, trails, streets and sidewalks. MRA manages Missoula’s Tax Increment Financing (TIF) programs.
City of Missoula Historic Preservation Commission (HPC)
The Historic Preservation Commission focuses on retaining and protecting Missoula’s communal character by providing information, guidance, and resources to community members, property owners, and elected leaders with focus on preservation, restoration, rehabilitation, adaptive reuse and education.
City of Missoula Housing & Community Development
Through public and private partnerships, Missoula Housing and Community Development staff works towards increasing housing options that are affordable to all levels, ensures a strong safety net for those living in poverty, and supports economic development opportunities that promote community growth.
Missoula City County Health Department (MCCHD)
Any business planning to offer food and beverage to the public will need to work with the Missoula City County Health Department for permitting. It is recommended to meet with the inspection staff before leasing and launching a new food and beverage endeavor.

The Missoula Parking Commission (MPC) works with government, businesses, and citizens to provide and manage parking and parking alternatives in Downtown Missoula.
Missoula Zoning
Development Services provides information regarding zoning and reviews development projects for zoning compliance. Areas of emphasis include compliance permits, sign permits, zoning amendments, conditional uses, administrative adjustments, variances, and design review.
