What Is Caras Park?
Caras Park is a historic park in Downtown Missoula along the Clark Fork River. What used to be underwater, then a junkyard, is now a beautiful and well-known public space in the heart of Missoula.
The Caras Park area encompasses the Caras Park Pavilion, Bandshell Stage, the Missoula Carousel, Brennan’s Wave, the Underbridge Playground, and East Caras Park.
Who Manages Caras Park?
Caras Park is managed and leased by the Missoula Downtown Association (MDA), while the City of Missoula and Parks and Recreation are the official owners of the park. The MDA primarily assists with general upkeep and oversight of the park as it pertains to hosting its events or leasing the space to the community for Public and private events. Parks and Recreation maintains the park and its facilities throughout the year.
The MDA and Missoula Downtown Foundation (MDF) work hard to keep Caras Park beautiful while overseeing numerous projects dedicated to its growth and enhancement, including the 2025 Caras Park Canopy Campaign.
Rent Caras Park
Organizations, community groups, and individuals can book Caras Park for public or private events. Over the past 12 years, Caras Park has hosted more than 1,000 events, drawing nearly one million individuals to Missoula’s premier park on the Clark Fork River.
Events at Caras Park are a strong economic driver for Downtown and bring the community together in ways no other Missoula destination can. Signature events hosted at Caras Park include Out to Lunch, Downtown ToNight, the Missoula Marathon, Garden City BrewFest, Winter Brewfest, Symphony in the Park, GermanFest, and the beloved annual River City Roots Fest.

Donations to Caras Park
The future of Caras Park is bright, but this special place needs continued improvements and investment. The white canopy is beyond the end of its 15-year lifespan, and a permanent sound system would be a dream come true for performers, entertainers, and eventgoers.
To assist with long-term improvements and maintenance, the Caras Park Fund Endowment was established in 2017 and made possible by an anonymous gift to the Missoula Downtown Foundation (MDF).
The MDF is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to support and promote Missoula through the enhancement of Downtown, now and for future generations.
