SWING FOR DOWNTOWN RETURNS FRIDAY, OCTOBER 1

A FUNDRAISER FOR THE MISSOULA DOWNTOWN ASSOCIATION

The Missoula Downtown Association (MDA) and the Missoula PaddleHeads will again host Swing for Downtown, a golf extravaganza at the baseball stadium on Friday, Oct. 1, and there are still openings for teams of five. Swing for Downtown started as a one-and-done fundraiser event in 2020 for the MDA after losing over 50% of their revenues due to the pandemic. After high-demand, the event is returning for 2021.

Swing for Downtown is supported by title sponsor Stockman Bank and supporting sponsors Roemer’s Point-S, Sun Mountain Sports, and Fidelity National Title (formerly Stewart Title). Swing for Downtown will feature nine holes on the concourse of Ogren Park at Allegiance Field in a COVID-safe environment. Teams of five can register online at www.missouladowntown.com/swing-for-downtown/. The Top Golf outing will feature five flights of seven teams per flight. Unlike a traditional tournament, players hit golf balls from the concourse onto the field, aiming for targets and prizes, competing against their teammates, and other teams, for fun. The setup lends itself well for both seasoned pros and amateurs to play a round.

“We didn’t expect for the event to be as popular as it was last year,” said Linda McCarthy, Executive Director of the Downtown Missoula Partnership. “We pulled the event together in less than three weeks and folks couldn’t wait to sign up. After such a fantastic event, and because of the demand for another round of Swing for Downtown, we knew we needed to host the event again in 2021. We are grateful for the support our organization, and Downtown, has received over the past 18 months.”

The cost is $300 per team and registration includes a meal, one complimentary adult beverage, and a swag bag. If you don’t have a team, individuals, duos, or trios, for example, can register by emailing [email protected]. The PaddleHeads will have additional food and beverage options available for purchase. Targets are no more than 130 yards, so attendees are encouraged to bring wedges. Raffles, prizes, and entertainment will also be available. Funds generated at Swing for Downtown will help fund Downtown projects, programs, promotions, and improvements done by the MDA.
