SWING FOR DOWNTOWN TOP GOLF GAME SET FOR FRIDAY, SEPT. 18

FLIGHTS OPEN FOR 10 MORE TEAMS

The Missoula Downtown Association (MDA) and the Missoula PaddleHeads will host Swing for Downtown, a golf extravaganza at the baseball stadium this Friday, Sept. 18, and there are still openings for 10 more teams of four. Unlike a traditional tournament, players hit golf balls from the concourse onto the field, aiming for targets and prizes, competing against their teammates for fun.

Sponsored by Roemer’s Point S, the Swing for Downtown outing will feature nine holes on the concourse of Ogren Park Allegiance Field in a COVID-safe environment. Teams of four can register online at https://www.missouladowntown.com/swing-for-downtown/. Fun for amateurs and pros alike, the Top Golf outing will feature six flights of eight teams per flight. The first three flights cost $250 per team, and the second three flights are $300 per team. Registration includes lunch or dinner, depending upon the flight, as well as complimentary beverages and a swag bag. The PaddleHeads will have additional food and beverage options available for purchase. Targets are no more than 130 yards, so attendees are encouraged to bring wedges and putters. Raffles, games, prizes and entertainment will also be available.

Funds generated at Swing for Downtown will help replace some lost funding typically generated by the MDA’s annual festivals and Caras Park events. The MDA lost almost 60% of its annual event revenues due to the COVID-19 pandemic, due tot the cancellation of Garden City BrewFest, Out to Summer Series, Downtown Downtown ToNight Summer Series, and River City Roots Festival.

“The MDA Board is grateful for the opportunity to host a new and different experience for our community in a COVID-safe environment,” said Bob McGowan, MDA Board President and Student Services Associate at the Rocky Mountain School of Photography. “MDA has long used event revenues to fund Downtown projects, programs, promotions and improvements. We encourage all Missoulians to come out and Swing for Downtown this Friday!”
