DESCRIPTION:Navigating the Genderverse Workshop | TransVisible Montana\nThis presentation is created and facilitated by TransVisible Montana collective members with the intention of creating a “brave space” for folks to gain education regarding the challenges that misinformation and cisnormative systems create for transgender\, non-binary\, and Two-Spirit Montanans. \nParticipants will learn what support is helpful in overcoming challenges and will be engaged in activities and discussions that deepen their understanding and comfort with pronouns and their use in introductions. \nParticipants will explore gender as a part of the human experience that expands beyond the gender binary\, and identify effective and ineffective allyship qualities. \nParticipants will have the opportunity to collect TransVisible Montana resources such as posters\, stickers\, cards\, and handouts that will be helpful in the continued practice of their newly acquired knowledge and allyship skills. \nOutcomes Include: \n\nA broadened awareness & practice of contemporary\, inclusive language.\nApplicable skills & ideas for work\, home\, school & public environments.\nPermission for liberation from the gender binary!\n\n\n

Towards the end of the event\, there will be an opportunity to make a meaningful donation that will directly support the enhancement of Downtown through the vibrancy of arts and culture\, livability\, economy\, and safety. \n\nBricks and Brothels Historic Tour \nWhile most in Missoula are familiar with the name Mary Gleim or the brief history of Front Street\, many of the district’s stories remain untold including Gleim’s and her businesses. Since its existence along the historic Mullan Road\, Front Street has been dubbed with the title of Missoula’s ‘red light district’ implicating that district remained a place of vice\, sin\, and corruption influenced by the radical reformist religious movements of the late 19th century. However\, violence and addiction found throughout the entirety of the American West remain only a sliver of the true story. \nFrom 1889-1917\, West Front and Main Streets became home to a vibrant ‘restricted’ community of working women\, Chinese laborers\, African American soldiers\, and immigrants who built the environment we as Missoulians have come to love today. This tour discusses the district through the historical lenses of sex\, race\, class\, and occupation in order to create a broader social understanding against the backdrop of the remaining built environment. \n6:30pm – Bricks and Brothels Tour:\nMeet Promptly in front of The Wilma Theatre for the tour start at 6:30pm \n7:30pm – Dinner at the Stables\nAppetizer – country style pâté\, chicken liver pâté\, herbed goat\, pickled fennel\, toasted baguette\nMain – burgundy braised beef\, saffron risotto\, vegetables\nDessert – butterscotch creme brûlée\nBeverage – glass of red or white wine\, or a pint of Cranky Sam beer \n(vegetarian option upon request) \n \n
